SUMMARY OF JOB: Treats and evaluates patients; administers patient care in a particular clinical specialty area, under the direction of the licensed physician. Knowledgeable about patient care diagnosis and treatment, current methods and techniques of practice. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities in accordance with scope of practice and licensure guidelines and in collaboration with and under the direction of the licensed physician.

RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
MPA-LIC - PA Medical Physician Assistant License
NCCPA - Certified Physician Assistant

There are times, based upon unusual work volume (increase or decrease), emergencies, or severe weather conditions, when it will become necessary for you to accept and perform a work assignment or assist with tasks which are outside of your regular duties or cross trained assignment in which you possess the basic knowledge and skill to perform the assignment safely
· CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide clinical services to orthopedic patients at the practice.
Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations.
Promote positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and counseling.
Prescribe Medication as appropriate.
Evaluate and complete medication reviews as appropriate on visits.
Document in patients’ medical records.
Order consultations as appropriate both within and outside the practice
Suture, staple removal.
Educate, counsel, and instruct patients and families (if appropriate) regarding treatment plan.
Perform visits with counter-signature by sponsoring physician.
Assist in OR’s as needed.
Complies with practice, system and departmental policies and procedures
Maintains good communication with all levels of staff, physicians and manufacturers representatives
Punctual and prepared to work at start of shift and returning from breaks
Takes responsibility for learning new skills in the work place
Displays an attitude consistent with the mission and vision
Prepares for annual evaluation by reviewing goals and preparing a summary of efforts and prepares appropriate goals for coming year
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Extended periods of desk work, sitting, walking, standing. Lifting, pulling and pushing up to 40 lbs.
