Preschool Substitute Teacher

Job Description

The German International School Washington D.C. is seeking substitute teachers for the Preschool Program.

OPENING BEGINS: Ongoing

GENERAL INFORMATION: Substitutes may be called on short notice for assignments and can occur during the morning program 7:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 3:10 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. This position requires flexibility.

DESCRIPTION:

Assists with supervising children ages two to four years old in the sleeping area, activity areas and on the playground

Becomes familiar with the tenets of the Preschool program and adheres to the core mission

Works with group of children through modeling of behavior, demonstrating tasks and supporting creativity and independence

REQUIREMENTS:

Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer

Fluency in either German or English required; fluency in both languages preferred

Professional background as Preschool-Teacher such as 90-hour course in Early Childhood Development Curriculum; German Early Childhood Education, Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education a plus

Teaching experience in a licensed preschool a plus

Demonstrates flexibility and excellent customer service skills
