Senior Base Up Technician

The Senior Base Up Technician will be responsible for driving process compliance for the GL Base Up packaging activities including the completion of the QC forms. The Senior Technician will work directly with the Project Engineer and Production Manager to escalate and resolve issues that impact his area of responsibility. The expectation will be that the Senior Technician will participate in brainstorming activities with Engineering and management to develop solutions to the problems at hand and provide practical feedback on the plan developed. The Senior Technician will also be expected to directly contribute to the quality standards being developed and ensure that everyone working in the base up area is following the quality standards. The Senior Technician will also be expected to be aware of the work going on in his vicinity and exercise his stop work authority when he observes an unsafe act.

Additional responsibilities:

· Position equipment on the skid per the GA (General Arrangement Drawing)

· Equipment alignment using Rotalign or SKF laser alignment equipment

· Transfer punch hold down bolt locations then drill and tap hold down bolts using a mag drill and manual taping tools

· Work with our hose vendor to fabricate lube oil lines and then install all lubrication instruments, valves, coolers and hoses. Connections will be made with NPT threads, JIC fittings, O-ring Boss fittings, and flange connections.

· Install all process instrumentation and vibration probes.

· The base up team will be setting all probe gaps as well as mechanical adjustment/calibration of the IGV & DGV mechanism.

· Final alignment and inspection of equipment prior turning the equipment over to the test stand for a full mechanical test.

· Confirm all JIC and NPT connections are tight and free of side load. Confirm all accessories are installed correctly

Required Skills and Abilities

· Communication with Lone Star Employees outside of the Base Up team

· Rotating Equipment installation and commissioning practices commonly used in petrochemical plant construction

· Laser alignment of rotating equipment

· Installation and remove of couplings (disk pack and elastomer type couplings)

· Precision measurement using OD Mics and Calipers

· Drilling and tapping activities using manual taping equipment down to 1/4-20

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and deescalate conflict

· Strong time management skills with the ability to identify and manage critical path items

Education and Qualification Requirements

1. 5-10 years of experience working as a millwright in a process chemical plant environment

2. Certification as a millwright either from union training or an NCCR certification.

3. Certification using laser alignment equipment or 5 years experience working with either a Rotalign, Easy Laser, or equivalent

Occasionally work in high, precarious places

Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals which may require pulmonary fit test and respirator fitting

Frequently exposure to extreme heat or cold

Frequently loud noise

Compensation:

· Pay range will be between $20/hr - $35/hr
