Leather Finishing Specialist

The Sustainable Chemicals team at Evolved By Nature is seeking a highly motivated Leather Finishing Specialist. The Leather Finishing Specialist will apply knowledge of leather chemistry and processing to incorporate, customize and launch finishes containing Activated Silk at tanneries.

Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate with R&D to develop, optimize and roll out leather finishes.

Act as liaison for technicians from other regions and align on test methods and techniques across sites.

Support the documentation of detailed technical results and key takeaways for internal teams and tanneries.

Effectively communicate internally and externally with team members, management, and tannery partners within the confines of confidentiality

Report and escalate issues to management as needed

Actively participates in tannery experiments - summarizes tannery visits and test results

Real-time assessment of trial results to recommend changes or opportunities to optimize in the tannery environment (i.e., formula variations, Activated Silk™ concentrations, etc.)

Qualifications:

Should have 4-year degree in Chemistry or relevant field

2+ years’ work experience in Leather Technology

Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting

Willing to travel and spend up to 50% of time working in the assigned tanneries and Evolved by Nature facilities.

Skills & Abilities:

Able to quickly learn new concepts, techniques, and practices

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Detail oriented

Strong aptitude for working with scientific instrumentation and mechanics

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to reprioritize quickly in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Google suite
