Position Summary

Reporting to the CFO, the Executive Director, IT will develop and implement Avenzo’s enterprise technology applications and platforms to support the company’s overall business objectives, enhance business operations, drive efficiency and ensure compliance. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for the enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy. This role requires senior level IT leadership and management experience along with strong business acumen, technical expertise and project management capabilities.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Create and implement comprehensive strategic IT roadmap for applications, services and systems to ensure IT infrastructure meets Avenzo’s strategic and operational needs

Collaborate closely with all functions to identify and implement technology solutions that drive the business and improve operational efficiency, with priority on the R&D functions followed by the broader organization, including Finance/Accounting, Legal and HR

Build and manage a team of IT professionals to implement and support IT infrastructure as the company grows

Ensure data security and privacy, as well as compliance with relevant regulations and standards, to protect Avenzo’s assets

Develop enterprise standards for IT security, technology architecture and operations governance processes to help guide efficient IT investment across the organization.

Develop, document and implement policies, procedures and employee training to minimize vulnerabilities across all technology domains, ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, and drive internal adoption of and compliance with IT and cybersecurity safeguards and best practices.

Establish appropriate IT asset management procedures to track maintenance of IT hardware and software license inventory, lifecycle management and related documentation

Evaluate, select and manage technology vendors/partners, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships

Develop and manage the IT budget in partnership with Finance, ensuring sufficient resources are allocated for technology investments and are balanced based on business needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area

15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience

10+ years of experience in leadership roles, including responsibility for driving critical initiatives, as well as hiring, managing, mentoring and/or developing direct reports

Ability to translate business needs into a strategic IT roadmap and drive implementation of that roadmap, ensuring operational success for the organization

Experience in building, implementing, and managing comprehensive, enterprise-wide IT and cybersecurity operations

Experience in driving and implementing large transformational IT projects in a growing company

Experience managing IT project planning, budgeting and coordination of IT resources to support business needs

Exceptional vendor management skills and the ability to forge strong cross-functional relationships

Ability to develop strong relationships with senior leaders in the organization

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset

Ability to travel as needed

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands:

Work Environment:

Hybrid; minimum three days per week in-office requirement

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Anticipated Base Salary Range

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $270,000 to $290,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors such as experience, education, skills and competencies.
