Overview

The successful candidate will be joining one of the largest privately held independent oil & gas acquisition, development, and production companies in the U.S. Citation’s assets consist of more than 430 fields located in 13 states that have more than 257 million net equivalent barrels of remaining proved reserves (82% oil, 71% developed). Responsibilities

Provide geological, petrophysical and geophysical support functions and perform property studies. Identify, generate, and recommend economic capital investment projects to be executed in the Company’s producing properties to enhance oil & gas production and increase reserve base. Evaluate outside operated proposals and monitor offset exploration activity as it affects Company leaseholds. Collaborate in the preparation of AFE’s, annual capital budget and reserve report projects. Serve as a staff advisor to other members of the Reservoir department in regard to basin geology, structural style, depositional environments, etc. Make proper recommendations concerning the Company’s leasehold position with regard to renewals and rentals, taking new leases, dropping acreage, farming out, and maintaining the HBP status of all economic or potentially economic producing acreage. Supervise and/or monitor field data acquisition concerning geological, geophysical, and other related functions. Maintain an awareness of evolving industry standards and emerging technologies as they apply to maximizing the economic recovery of the Company’s oil and gas properties. Provide mentorship of less experienced geologists in the department.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of geology experience with conventional mature waterfloods and unconventional horizontal plays. Experience in southern Oklahoma a plus. Experienced in formation evaluation/interpretation with well logs. Skilled at creating geological maps (structure, isopach, net pay, GOR, API Gravity, HCIP, PhiH, Water Cut, etc.). Experienced in Type Curve creation and analysis based on formation and geological/geographical setting, non-operated project deal flow analysis and evaluation, Petrophysical analysis/models/calculations (conventional and unconventional reservoirs), decline curve analysis & down spacing analysis, gun barrel plot creation, parent/child relationship analysis, production & injection diagnostics, and familiar with enhanced/improved oil recovery technologies. Skilled at leading the development of capital reserve-adding projects and preparing/presenting recommendations to upper level management for approval. Experienced in the use of Geographix/Petra, MicroSoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, IHS & Enverus databases. Experience in the use of OFM, PHDWin, StarSteer, and Spotfire/Tableau is a plus.

Education

BS in Geology required with an MS in Geology or MBA preferred but not required.
