Position Summary

Bridgeport Fittings is seeking an individual who wants a challenge in an entrepreneurial, fast-growing, fast-paced market. A “can-do” attitude along with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and cross-functional collaboration is essential for success in this position. This Buyer / Scheduler role will be focused in two primary areas—Buying/Planning and Scheduling.

Buying / Planning: This individual is responsible for partnering with the internal team to manage vendor procurement, planning forecasts, inventory planning, supply chain logistics, and administration of company policies and requirements. This role performs a wide range of duties, including:

Support and drive ongoing, best-in-class service excellence

Day-to-day execution of planning responsibilities for import and domestically sourced items, including PO creation and management through ERP system, vendor communication, transportation tracking, expediting, customer service communications, etc.

Manage vendor delivery performance, analyze delay root causes and solutions to improve on-time delivery and flexibility

Partner with Sourcing to build relationships with key suppliers that are positive and maintain open communication, and manage suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality, control inventories, and ensure timely flow of material

Review and assist in managing product forecasts and inventory levels

Monitor and report key performance metrics, including Purchase Price Variance, inventories, shortages, and supplier performance

Work with established international freight forwarders on international ordersScheduling: This individual is responsible for the planning and purchasing of raw material supporting manufacturing / production as well as developing and maintaining the production floor schedule. This position will manage select suppliers to ensure on-time delivery while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns.

Develop a thorough working knowledge of required MRP/ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics), assigned commodities and associated supplier base

Forecast and plan assigned commodities based on the MRP messaging

Analyze messages from the MRP system and schedule production orders in a timely manner

Work with shop floor personnel to produce an achievable production schedule and make adjustments when required

Bring ideas to management and be able to implement necessary process improvements

Manage inventories to ensure continuous production while maximizing turns

Communicate status of PO's, including issues that impact customer expectations, to internal management and stakeholders

Other duties as assigned; responsibilities and activities may change without noticeRequired Education and Experience

>2-4 years of procurement and/or planning experience, with proven experience working in a production environment

Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and concepts including bills of material and routings

Demonstrated success interacting with vendors, transportation, and internal departments

Results oriented, experienced managing multiple deadlines and meeting deliverables

Works fluently with Excel, databases, and cloud base systems at an intermediate level to create spreadsheets for managing, forecasting, analyzing, and optimizing supply and inventory processes

Skills/Qualifications

Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel + Power Bi and PowerPoint)

Analytical capabilities to compare prices and quantities and consider vendor contract terms

Willingness to make quick and thoughtful decisions on behalf of the business

Basic understanding of materials planning, procurement, and logistics processes

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (ERP) is a positive
