Human Resource Generalist
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to manage Human Resources in our firm. This is a full time position for someone with experience in all aspects of Human Resources. The applicant should be positive and proactive and enjoy interacting with staff. The role will report to the CFO.
This is a full-time position with both in office as well as remote work though as HR is an interactive role, a physical presence in the office promotes relationship building with NK team members. In office core days are Monday & Wednesday and at least one other day of the candidates choosing based on business needs, especially when orientation and onboarding of new staff. During peak times like open enrollment (September / October) and year end (December) there may be a need for overtime.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Recruiting, Hiring & Employee Separation
Update Job Descriptions and advertise through BambooHR
Daily review incoming applicants, review candidate qualifications and aid the hiring manager in the selection process with initial screening of qualified individuals in BambooHR
Manage correspondence with candidates and update candidate status through the hiring process
Liaise with outside suppliers as needed for temporary employees and recruitment agencies
Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews
Terminate employees in all applicable systems (BambooHR, Paychex, Vantagepoint)
Orientation & On Boarding
Orient and onboard new hires, including collection of employee personal data, compliance documentation
Set up employees in all systems BambooHR, Deltek Vantagepoint & Paychex
Coordinate and manage orientation schedule for new hires
Review existing HR handbook and NK company policy with new hires
Human Resource Systems - BambooHR
Ensure employee records are up to date for benefits plan participation, personnel changes such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
Monthly and quarterly personnel reporting
Assist Managers with bi-annual performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
Complete Year End Tasks and close out the year
Employment Policy, Compliance, and Governmental Reporting
Stay abreast of changes in the laws and identifying gaps in policy, and develop, maintain, and update employee policy as needed
Update and monitor changes need to HR Handbook
Monitor HR Mailbox for SHRM notices and other entities related to compliance
Consult with legal counsel to ensure that policy complies with federal and state law
Advise management in the resolution of employee relations issues
Respond to inquiries regarding policy, procedure, and programs
Update and monitor changes need to HR Handbook
Oversee and prepare the analysis of EEO, VETS 100, Affirmative Action Plan, Etc.
Payroll
Administer bi-weekly payroll through Paychex Flex
Monitor Sick leave, Short Term Disability, FMLA, and other Leave of Absence
In conjunction with CFO, participate in monitoring employee tax and wage deductions
Ensure Section 125 compliance in all payroll deductions
Monitor 401K allocations to outside 3rd party
Benefits
Source and evaluate benefit options prior to open enrollment
Administers benefit programs such as life, health, dental, vision, disability insurance plans, retirement plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance
Investigate workman’s compensation claims and prepare reports for insurance carriers.
Produce and Maintain government reporting
Audit and reconcile benefit Invoices (Guardian, Oxford, Aflac) monthly
Update daily FSA reconciliation worksheet and save reports
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong computer skills a must, intermediate in Excel and Word
Well organized and able to prioritize and self-manage workload
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Have a professional approach, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate discretion with sensitive information
Education and Experience:
Minimum college graduate with HR/Business Administration focus
Minimum 5-7 years of HR experience, performing functions as outlined in the Job Description
Minimum 1 to 2 jobs with similar prior experience
Prior industry experience or experience in small to mid-size firm a plus
Experience with BambooHR a plus
Experience with Paychex Flex a plus
