We are currently seeking a focused individual to serve as a bench chemist/formulator/sample analysis technologist for our production facility located in Salt Lake County, Utah.

This role will use standard bench chemistry techniques to assist in the formulation, development, blending and analysis of new products in bulk format. They will routinely generate, interpret, and document analytical data, while reporting regularly on project developments. The employee in this position will be tasked with conducting routine sample preparation and analytical testing of raw materials, finished products, and QC samples, in order to ensure formulation targets and quality standards are met. Independent, self-directed utilization and maintenance of HPLC equipment for sample analysis will be required.

Additional duties will include but are not limited to maintaining a clean facility and lab space, and cleaning analytical labware and glassware.

Formulator/ Analytical Sample Technologist Duties and Responsibilities:

As directed, perform basic calculations to determine/achieve targeted formulations, and utilize standard lab equipment to batch and formulate products.

Oversee and be able to understand the quality of products being produced.

Use best practices, analytical techniques to avoid contamination and mis-identified or mis-analyzed samples.

Operate and perform basic maintenance on Analytical equipment: (analytical balance(s), HPLC, pipettes, etc.)

Make observations, draw conclusions, summarize results.

Keep inventory of all chemicals with zero variance.

Assist fellow chemists with larger projects, as directed.

Identify improvements that can be made to existing lab processes.

Observe all company and lab safety protocols.

Meet productivity requirements and demonstrate commitment to producing quality work.

Collect samples for analysis and maintain required documentation.

Prepare and analyze samples as needed utilizing HPLC.

Formulator / Analytical Sample Technologist Requirements:

Minimum: High school diploma, or similar, with 5+ years direct hands-on laboratory experience using bench chemistry techniques and laboratory analysis equipment such as HPLC systems for quantitative analysis

Preferred: Four-year science degree with minimum 2 years direct hands-on laboratory experience using bench chemistry techniques and laboratory analysis equipment such as HPLC systems for quantitative analysis

Must possess a healthy sense of urgency and diligence with a problem-solving mindset.

Must be able to read & write in written English and communicate in verbal English, with a firm understanding of highly technical, scienced based terminology and jargon.

Can effectively work in a team setting and communicate effectively across departments.

Punctual and accountable for attendance in accordance with company policies

Ability to follow work instructions.

Food handlers permit upon hiring.

Must meet minimum qualifications for a Utah Cannabis Agent Card.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, and listen. The employee must be able to stand, walk, and use both hands and fingers to reach and grasp. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. It is important that the employee must be able to exhibit control and stability while lifting and pouring materials, up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be comfortable working with chemicals and solvents, and frequently being around strong odors.
