As a physician assistant and officer on the U.S. Army health care team, you'll be entrusted with a level of responsibility not found in most health care settings. Working alongside talented physicians and making critical medical decisions, you'll gain the experience needed to take your career to the next level.Benefits include:

Health Professions Loan Repayment of up to $120,000 over three years; may be applied toward qualified education loans

Accession bonus of $12,500 per year for a 3-year commitment or $15,000 per year for a 4-year commitment

Specialty Pay of $2,000 to $5,000 per year for board-certified physician assistants

Paid continuing education, including post-graduate training programs in orthopedics, emergency medicine, cardiopulmonary perfusion and occupational medicine

30 days of paid vacation earned annually

Requirements include:

Bachelor's degree, plus completion of an accredited physician assistant program acceptable to the Army Surgeon General

Certification by the National Commission for Certified Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Eligibility for board certification

Between 21 and 42 years of age (may request a waiver)

U.S. citizenship

Students graduating within six months, with a qualifying degree from a U.S.-accredited school, may apply for Active Army service
