Job Description

The primary function of an Assistant General Manager to work in tandem with the General Manager to advance initiatives to increase sales and regulate costs of the restaurant in order to run a successful business. It is of the utmost importance to balance these responsibilities while also providing a lucrative and safe environment for your staff. This is an opportunity for growth for the right individual and could develop into an eventual GM position. should the AGM chose to pursue that path. The AGM should make decisions that are in the best interests of the company and there should always be coverage between the GM and the AGM during peak volume.

General Purpose of this position

Ensure the restaurant always reflects the Frothy Monkey Brand. Plan and direct all restaurant operations. Maintain high standards of food, service, health, and safety in a fast-paced, high volume environment.

Ensure efficient and profitable business performance and optimize the utilization of staff and resources. Manage and train staff in a positive way while ensuring hospitality is a key point of service.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

(Hospitality, Staffing, Organizational & Administrative, Operations)

Hospitality

advise customers on food and beverage choices

interact with customers to ensure all inquiries and complaints are handled promptly

identify regulars and maintain relationships

display hospitable behaviors and coach staff on how to do the same

identify and interact in community events and groups that present opportunities for the restaurant

anticipate situations that could adversely affect a customer and remedy

seek out feedback from customers and apply feedback as necessary

display sincerity when communicating with customers

Staffing

assess staffing requirements and recruit staff when needed

train and coach staff

set operating goals and objectives

manage staff performance in accordance with established standards and procedures

monitor/adjust staff schedules (anticipate special events, parties, holidays)

ensure staff know and adhere to established core values

treat employees well, show appreciation and gratitude when possible

display objectivity when dealing with staff issues

Organizational & Administrative

plan and monitor restaurant sales and revenue

set and monitor budgets

analyze budget variances and take corrective actions

establish and implement financial controls

prepare and analyze management reports

analyze food and beverage costs

total restaurant receipts and reconcile with sales

ensure cash management procedures are completed accurately

check and order supplies of non-food items

maintain business records

maintain employee records

keep records of health and safety practices

Operations

prepare and implement standard operating procedures

coordinate restaurant operations during each shift

monitor adherence to health, safety and hygiene standards in kitchen and restaurant

ensure compliance with restaurant security procedures

ensure alcohol regulations are adhered to

oversee preparation of food and beverage items

ensure adherence to set recipes

ensure quality of food and beverage presentation

observe size of food portions and preparation quantities to minimize waste

schedule food and beverage deliveries

check quality of deliveries and documentation

ensure correct storage of supplies

arrange for maintenance and repairs of equipment and services

identify and estimate food and beverage supply requirements and place orders with suppliers

determine and execute operating improvements

supervise marketing and promotional activities

Knowledge and Experience

previous experience in food and beverage management

in-depth working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages

in-depth working knowledge of food preparation and presentation

experience in staff management and development

knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices

experience in analyzing financial data

knowledge of planning and forecasting

track record of managing inventory and cost control

knowledge of administrative procedures

able to use relevant computer applications (Microsoft Office)
