Michael and Son Services is looking for a qualified and resourceful Human Resources Generalist to support our Human Resources (HR) department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The Human Resources Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities to include but not limited to: employee relations, talent development, benefits administration, and overall compliance. We are seeking a candidate who can work effectively at all levels in the organization. The successful candidate should have natural curiosity and will be a self-starter who takes pride in owning their work and leveraging their role to impact results.

The right candidate will have experience in the following areas:

Participates with onboarding new hires including coordinating new hire orientation activities.

Handles all employment-related inquiries (basic up to complex and/or sensitive matters)

Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings and investigations. Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.

Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.

Consults with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.

Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs and policies.

Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.

Develops contract terms for promotions and transfers.

Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.

Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to HR data management, benefits/leave administration; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale; and training and development.

Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Generalist resolving complex employee relations matters.

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential is a plus.
