Cadogan Tate New York Limited has an exciting position available for a Lead Art Handler / Installer

The essential duty of this role is to take a lead role on all aspects of the proper handling, wrapping, de-installation and installation for the collection, delivery and installation of artworks, antiques, design furniture & personal effects under the management and direction of a supervisor. Assisting in coordination and taking charge of any installations whilst managing crews on site.

We are looking for skilled Installers (Foreman experience preferred) with box truck driving experience, art installation experience is required.

This a full-time position, working Monday through Friday and some weekends. The company provides competitive hourly pay and excellent benefits. The salary depends on applicant's driving and moving experience. The candidate must be able to provide proof of authorization to work in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

Handling, packing & installations both locally and interstate, as needed

Coordination assistance on installation projects

Leading on-site teams/crews

Proper handling of art objects, fragile objects and materials, antiques and fine furniture

Completion of condition checks / reports, both conventional and electronic (i.e., Articheck), as required

Report to work on-time on a daily basis

High level packing of artworks, antiques and fine furniture for transportation, short-term & long-term storage

Ensure a high degree of detail, focus and quality control on every job

Training “junior” art handlers and installers as required

Manage and ensure quality control of all paperwork whether in-house or on site

Verify any materials that are needed at the start of every day or job based on the daily manifest and ensure they are allocated & correctly loaded onto truck(s), as required

On occasion, you may be required to start your day or end your day at a location other than Cadogan Tate New York Limited listed above, in these instances you may be required to complete a manual time sheet and to have this signed by the supervisor or your direct supervisor within 24 hours of the start or end of the day.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Ensure crews assigned to you are always wearing their uniforms while they are on company time

Ensure adherence by you & your crews to authorized break times

You are responsible to report crew members who are not fulfilling their job role to their and/or your direct supervisor

Train junior/new art handlers & installers, as required

Do not let any crew(s) assigned to you leave rubbish in the truck(s) or damage or defile the truck interiors in any way

Ensure crews complete time sheets

Be a proactive leader using your own initiative when required

General

Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures, and all other Company policies and procedures in place

Adhere to all Health & Safety (OSHA) policies and procedures

Act, at all times, in the best interests of Cadogan Tate, its customers and employees

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

High school diploma / GED required

Some years of experience in the art handling & transport industry with an emphasis on packing & installation

Some driving on a local and interstate basis is desirable

Some years of logistical, warehousing and art/design furniture transport experience

A solid understanding of inventory processes and the ability to handle art and antiques from collection through to installation

The ability to lead an installation and manage an on-site crew/team

The ability to manage installations and train junior art handlers & installers accordingly

The ability to work as part of a team, as well as working independently with proper advance instruction.

Strong leadership skills

Excellent problem-solving skills

Some familiarity with OSHA regulations

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Outstanding communication (both spoken & written) and multitasking skills

Ability to accurately execute detailed paperwork

Versed in condition reporting both conventional and electronic (ie Articheck)

Comfortable and successful in a results-driven workplace

Experience with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, J-bars, dollies and other standard logistics & warehouse equipment

Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds and maneuver objects of substantial size and weight, with appropriate assistance, on a daily basis, without damage to objects or personnel

The ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly, or cart

Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and reach overhead
