The OEB’s Office of the Registrar (Registrar) makes preliminary decisions in adjudicative proceedings. The Registrar ensures efficient and timely processing and disposition of all matters in accordance with natural justice, applicable laws, and the formal practices and procedures of the OEB. The Registrar ensures the integrity and safeguarding of official records of OEB proceedings in accordance with applicable legislation and corporate guidelines. The Registrar is responsible for adjudicative reporting and analysis, and the implementation of projects to drive process innovation and improvement.

Reporting to the Deputy Registrar - Applications, the Reporting Specialist will be responsible for supporting the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis and reporting activities of the Registrar. The Reporting Specialist will examine application processing effectiveness and performance, generate insights, consider implications, and make recommendations to help drive policy discussions and decision making. The Reporting Specialist will review and automate existing processes and work with other departments to streamline and create more efficient reporting processes.

Responsibilities

Develop plans to achieve the analytics, reporting and process improvement requirements of the Registrar

Interpret and translate high level business needs into functional needs by understanding issues and determining data requirements

Collaborate with the OEB’s IT department to assess current systems and utilization to identify and recommend improvements such as customization, streamlining of processes, and other enhancements

Conceptualize and build analytical models and performance metrics to drive in-depth analysis of historical data, current performance, and external comparative data, including interpretation and recommendations, to help identify areas for improvement and drive proactive corrective measures

Ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis and reporting is timely, clean, accurate and thorough

Forecast future case load and busy application processing periods, and analyze and report on application processing effectiveness and performance

Develop and support data collection and data entry and import solutions, such as input forms and packages

Train and support internal and external data providers to ensure on-time, accurate and complete data entry

Work with other OEB departments and support process improvements through data analysis and reporting

Collaborate with the OEB’s IT department to review and recommend any future system upgrades or replacements

Present information to the Registrar, executive, and other departments

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Intelligence, Economics, Engineering, Information Management or a related field

5+ years of relevant experience working in a regulated industry or public utility is an asset

Experience translating data sets into actionable information

Experience developing and creating financial and non-financial reports

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, SharePoint)

Previous working experience with data analytical solutions and tools such as Microsoft SQL and Oracle BI

Six Sigma certification or experience leading Lean transformations is considered an asset
