With a savvy finance team and excellent leadership, our client is looking to add to their reporting team by finding a strong Senior Accountant, who specializes in financial reporting to help lead their large accounting group.

The Senior Accountant will play an essential role in the Financial Reporting group and will be accountable for analyzing transactions and ensuring they meet internal controls and accounting standards for the government. As the right hand to the manager, you will be tasked with the annual financial statements, journal entries, and supporting documentation. You will be the “go-to” person for all complex accounting matters and may be required to draft position papers.

As the Senior Accountant, you will be essential in ensuring accuracy, integrity and timely financial reporting and month/year-end close. Your responsibilities would include:

Preparing & analyzing financial statements in accordance with IFRS and corporate policies

Coordinating the external audit process, liaising with auditors, providing documentation and addressing audit inquiries

Ensure compliance with internal controls, and that financial reporting is accurate, consistent and transparent

Review financial performance and provide variance analysis on insight into emerging trends

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial reporting processes and drive efficiencies.

Stay current on emerging trends or legislative changes and report on financial impact

Participate in special projects, contributing to the delivery of corporate objectives

The ideal candidate for this role will hold their CPA designation and bring a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working within a complex reporting environment. You will have at least 2 years working in financial reporting and bring a thorough understanding of IFRS requirements. A track record working in public accounting would fit into this team perfectly. Experience in creating and implementing financial policies and best practices relating to financial accounting is highly desirable. This opportunity will require you to liaise with internal parties and external auditors. Your ability to communicate, collaborate and manage your time accordingly is essential to your success. You must be SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE ELIGIBLE, either a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, to be considered. Experience working within large ERP systems will be expected.
