Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant
Job Summary
Provides routine and repetitive patient care activities to patients and residents. Maintains standards of nursing care, under the supervision of licensed Nursing personnel, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Nursing Department, Miami Jewish Health Systems and regulatory agencies.
Essential Job Functions
Provides basic care to patients under the supervision of a nurse
Performs activities of daily living and maintains a comfortable environment
Transports residents, supplies, equipment, etc. between the nursing unit and other departments or discharge
Documents the patient care activities performed on the unit
Organizes, cleans and maintains the patient/resident units
Ensures that resident’s/patient’s rights are adhered to
Participates in departmental activities and follows established guidelines
Perform clerical functions for the nursing unit
Performs related duties as required
Job Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program
Experience:
Minimum of three months recent experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant working in a nursing home environment preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
Current CNA license by the Florida State Board of Nursing
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
Abilities Required
Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with geriatric patients, residents, family members, employees and other facility guests
Demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients, residents, family members, employees and other facility guests
Demonstrates competency to perform duties effectively for geriatric patients or patients with diminished physical and/or mental capacity
Ability to speak, read and write in the English language
Ability to document information concisely and accurately
Ability to think and act calmly to handle the unusual occurrences of the job
Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals

Florida PACE Centers at Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest Programs for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in the state of Florida. We currently serve over 900 participants spread over four locations: Hialeah, Westchester, Miramar, and our main campus in the Buena Vista neighborhood of Miami. PACE is a comprehensive, fully integrated, provider-based health program for those who require and a nursing home level of care. The PACE philosophy is centered on the belief that it is better for frail individuals and their families to be served in the community whenever possible. Although all PACE participants are eligible for nursing home care, 90 percent continue to live in the community.
