Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

An established forward thinking Engineering firm located in Durham, North Carolina is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer with relevant experience in electrical power, lighting and fire alarm/systems design for public, institutional, educational, commercial, and industrial facilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

· Develop and manage the electrical department to support MEP and other projects

· Prepare electrical designs for institutional, office, educational, retail, healthcare, industrial and other similar projects

· Apply design knowledge in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, fire alarm and equipment specifications and selections

· Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective resolutions

· Ability to direct a team of engineers, designers and support personnel

· Interact with all engineering disciplines, construction project managers, and clients

· Work within company policy and OSHA Safety rules

· Demonstrate the ability to take projects from inception to completion.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

· Must have experience as a project lead on multi-discipline engineering design projects.

· Must have advanced knowledge of electrical engineering and design and be familiar with applicable codes for building, energy, and construction standards and acceptable industry practices

· Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time

· Formal experience in electrical system design for buildings

· Experience with common Engineering Design software

· Experience with Lighting Design and Photometric Software

· Experience with latest versions of AutoCAD

· Ability to prepare written specifications, letters, reports and related contract documents

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

DESIRED SKILLS:

· Experience with SKM

· Familiarity with Revit

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· Must possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED

· Must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
