Description:

Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the medical facility.

Responsibilities

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Dusts furniture, dust mops floors, woodwork, and equipment. Polishes and cleans fixtures in Utility rooms and bathrooms.

Operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and vacuums.

Wet mops, halls, stairways, and public areas.

Shampoos rugs and furniture, cleans vents, fans, and other equipment using vacuum machines.

Cleans fixtures, tops or windows, door frames, and high areas using a ladder.

Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials.

Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.

Buffs, strips, wax, and polish floors.

Removes waste from work area and places waste in specified bags or containers.

Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patients’ rooms, including stripping beds, prepares room for new occupant; and follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.

Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms.

Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

On-the-job training. Prior experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to read, write and understand English is essential.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.

Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
