What you will do:

The Senior Manager of Social Media reports into the VP, Consumer Marketing. A key function of this role is to lead and develop social media strategies, that supports the business, with a correlating content plan in order to distribute engaging entertainment content across social media channels for Cineplex’s theatrical, location-based entertainment businesses (The Rec Room and Playdium) and Corporate as needed. These plans are designed to meet defined marketing goals.

This role requires an in-depth knowledge of social media best practices and application to broader business to help guide the social media team in creating and publishing both organic and paid content on Meta (Instagram and Facebook), Twitter, LinkedIn (as needed), YouTube (as needed) and TikTok (as needed). The Senior Manager of Social Media must also be a strong collaborator, as this role works very closely with the broader Consumer Marketing team, Creative Services, Guest Services, Revenue Management as well as external partners such as Studios. This role requires a creative critical thinker that lives online, who follows the latest trends, is process-driven and can manage a high volume of assets to deliver projects on a deadline.

This is a hybrid position (3 days in the office - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Office location is 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and lead evolving Social Media strategies that supports Theatrical (EXH) and Location Based Entertainment (LBE), with correlating content and boosted post approach.

Manage a team of two Social Media Managers and one Coordinator and support them on the execution of the social media and content strategy which includes their creation, curation and posting of original social assets that facilitates growth and engagement on social channels while also supporting business needs.

Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and/or curate on-brand, engaging assets (e.g. movie trailers, National Popcorn Day, etc.) to create excitement and buzz around a key initiative/event/product.

Leverage social media software, Sprinklr and Brandwatch to schedule all posts to ensure accurate, ongoing, reporting, and partner with Cineplex Insights Team on larger listening campaigns and projects.

Monitor trends and social feedback to build a Community Management strategy, engage with our social communities and drive positive fan engagement and conversation.

Collaborate with the Guest Services team on escalations and opportunities.

Capture content and engagement opportunities through industry events, festivals, junkets, red carpets and press days.

Education & Certification

Post-secondary education with a focus in arts, digital and/or social marketing/journalism

Certification in Social Media Marketing

Experience

7+ years working as a social media manager for both paid and organic content

5+ years working in editorial or media, marketing and/or an agency environment

5+ years working with social media content management systems such as Sprinklr or Brandwatch

3+ years experience with branded content programs with a demonstrated knowledge of Content Marketing as a key practice

Basic video and/or photo editing skills are an asset

Bilingual in English and French is an asset but not required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Up to date knowledge of social media best practices and trends

Engaging, on brand, accurate writing and content creation

Experience with building ad sets using custom audiences in Facebook Ads Manager

In depth understanding of social media metrics, establishing benchmarks and identifying KPIs

Experience with content management tools such as Sprinklr and Brandwatch to schedule, tag, post and generate reports

A passion for out of home entertainment with a keen interest in movies and food & beverage

Experience working with video files and design tools such as Photoshop is an asset
