Overview:

GENERAL SUMMARY

As part of the Quality and Compliance team, the Quality Improvement Specialist is an integral part of a team responsible for implementing the organizations Quality Improvement Plan compliant with Sound, contractual, and accreditation standards. Participates in efforts to evaluate and promote the quality and effectiveness of services, in the areas of utilization management, constituent satisfaction, performance indicators and outcome measures. Primary responsibility over critical incidents, client complaints, clinical chart reviews, documentation training, encounter data validation, and audit preparation and response.

This is a highly skilled and responsible professional position and work is performed with a great degree of independence and limited oversight.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Support delivery of quality services within healthcare reform, national accreditation and regional standards of care, contracts and funding constraints.

Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive quality improvement plan.

Responsible for critical incident report follow-up and reporting to external entities.

Responsible for client complaint resolution in coordination with clinical leadership.

Responsible for the clinical chart review process.

Provide documentation training in coordination with clinical leadership. Develop training materials.

Responsible for encounter data validation reviews.

Support implementation of clinical and administrative best practices.

Prepare for external service audits, site reviews and investigations; participate in the review process, and prepare response to findings. Work is done collaboratively with Regional Directors, Managers and Supervisors.

Assures that improvement activities are documented and reported within the organization and externally as appropriate.

Provide technical assistance and training to staff about documentation requirements, charting, and policies and procedures.

Initiate performance improvement projects as indicated.

Demonstrates problem solving, leadership, conflict management, and team building skills in order to ensure a productive work environment and achievement of goals.

Relate to others in a professional manner, respectful of individual and cultural differences.

Comply with all applicable federal, state and county laws and regulations, SMH policies and procedures and all safety regulations.

Understand recovery concepts in behavioral health.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: MSW or Master's degree in psychology, or a counseling related field with 3 years’ experience in direct service; or equivalent combination of education & experience.

Preferred: Mental Health Professional Status.

Must have knowledge and training in designated program area, supervision and administration.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must be able to obtain a WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor credential within the first 30 days of hire.

Must pass a criminal background check. Must have WA state driver’s license and insurable driving record as well as reliable transportation.

Salary range: $26.01 - $30.60 per hour
