Business Unit Description:

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Plant Accounting Manager is a key partner to manufacturing operations through monitoring financial performance measures, providing financial analysis to management, and providing financial consultation. Responsible for the integrity of all financial information originating within assigned manufacturing location(s) including understanding monthly allocation processes and guiding the plant on appropriate cost center utilization. Calculate and analyze product costs, perform regular audits of costs and related master data, and complete month-end controlling processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Review of daily plant reports and KPIs related to manufacturing variances, shipping, work orders, and inventory-related transaction.

Assist in the review, control, and management of inventories including costing, aging, and counting inventories.

Maintain and review KPIs and monthly results with plant management.

Preparing timely and accurate plant-related reports and analyze variances to budget/standards.

Analysis based on knowledge of manufacturing processes to make recommendations for improvements, cost savings, and improved efficiencies.

Develop monthly forecasts based on the plant performance.

Assist in developing the annual budget in conjunction with plant managers.

Inventory management including the cost of Ingredients, Packaging, and Finished Goods.

Month-end roll-up and copy of inventory costs.

Review and maintain bills of materials, yields, and scrap factors.

Review and set standard conversion costs.

Month-end review of plant financial statements, costs, and accruals.

Responsibility for plant-specific GL accounts including reconciliations.

GL review to ensure coding accuracy.

Maintain recurring and reversing entries.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Five (5) Experience in accounting in a manufacturing organization. Proven analytical capabilities.

Three (3) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with plant managers and other business partners with an emphasis on cost analysis.

Experience with an ERP system including standard costing.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to articulate analytical results.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Enabling attitude with a willingness to learn.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Accounting designation preferable.

Post-secondary education preferably with a specialization in Finance or Accounting with an understanding of financial and management accounting principles.

Knowledge of and experience with JD Edwards software, preferred.

Knowledge of and experience in the food industry is preferred.
