Fort Washington Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for Fort Washington Adventist HealthCare who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a CNO you will:

•Create an operations culture that reflects a high level of positive teamwork and collaboration; be highly visible through rounding, and exercise an outgoing style that will enable the CNO to represent the "pulse" of the organization and nursing to senior management.

•Establish a culture in patient care that emphasizes the importance of keeping the “patient first” and of consistent processes and execution; continue to foster a culture that embraces accountability, effective communication, and teamwork between nurse departments, non-nursing departments and physicians.

•Engage and inspire nurses and nursing leadership to develop contemporary education and nursing patient care models that provide demonstrable improvements in quality, patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction and employee engagement.

• Be a team player within the Administrative Council who is also seen as a champion for teamwork between Nursing and all other interdisciplinary teams who care for patients; translate the daily and strategic administrative initiatives into plans and processes for nurse leaders that are complementary with all other hospital departments.

•Continue initiatives to define and implement an appropriate care model; be open to the hospital’s interest in pursuing the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award and implementing LEAN and Six Sigma quality initiatives; continue to help develop a culture of continuous improvement.

•Provide mentoring and accountability to all nurses to enhance performance and communication; implement initiatives and mentoring processes to enhance critical thinking skills for all nursing and build the leadership skills of the directors and managers; continue to develop a pipeline for succession planning at the middle management level.

•Engage the medical staff in initiatives to improve nursing care; work to develop an increasingly collegial relationship between nurses and physicians.

Qualifications include:

•Well-prepared academically, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) and a graduate degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Health Services Administration.

•A strong background in hospital patient care delivery with at least ten years.

•Preference for experience as a Chief Nursing Officer from larger hospitals with multiple department responsibilities.

•Progressive leadership experience and demonstrated results in a medium-sized hospital at least seven years.

•Must be a registered nurse with eligibility for Maryland licensure.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday Day shift hours, some nights and weekends.

COVID-19 Vaccination

Tobacco and Drug Statement

Those testing positive are given the opportunity to re-apply in 90 days, if they can truthfully attest that they have not used any nicotine products in the past ninety (90) days and successfully pass follow-up testing. ("Nicotine products" include, but are not limited to: cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaping products, hookah, and nicotine replacement products (e.g., nicotine gum, nicotine patches, nicotine lozenges, etc.).
