Engineering Manager (Core Data Team)

About the team: Our Core Data team is responsible for building, scaling, and managing the distributed systems that ingest, process, store, and make accessible all user, transaction, and entity data received from our customers.

We aim to build highly available, low latency systems with minimal operational overhead.

Designing with automation, auto-scaling and fault-tolerance in mind allows us to keep up with the growth of our business and the growth of our customers.

What were looking for: Communication: Youll be the glue that holds technical projects together, keeping track of individuals work, being proactive about preventing slippage, and making sure all departments understand the big picture.

As a cross-functional collaborator, youll ensure predictable delivery of product and business needs on your teams projects.

What youll do: Lead a team of talented software engineers who work on distributed storage systems and real-time processing engines which power our machine learning and automation platform Champion best practices for running highly available systems end-to-end: from design, to implementation, to testing, to deployment and ongoing operation Ensure that we have robust incident response plans and that teams are prepared to manage production incidents Hire additional top talent for your team, and manage performance for each member in your team What would make you a strong fit: 2+ years of leading teams & managing complex technical projects Experience operating critical production systems at scale Strong understanding of industry best practices Strong collaboration skills experience working with product management, infrastructure, and other engineering teams Bonus points: Experience developing distributed systems or platforms operating on data at scale Running & managing large NoSQL clusters such as HBase or Cassandra Familiar with Hadoop ecosystem / Yarn / Mesos Experience with Kafka and stream processing frameworks A little about us: We are a hyper-growth Series D company that facilitates the largest trust network of online businesses and consumers on the internet.
