The National Insitute on Aging (NIA), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is at the forefront of aging research. We are seeking an innovative leader to serve as the Chief Information Officer and Chief of the Information Technology Branch (ITB) at NIA. This position reports directly to the Executive Officer and offers a unique opportunity to support the future of aging research.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of NIA extramural IT applications development and design, and implementation of data processing systems, relational databases, web applications, security, and computer software in support of the NIA mission.

Collaborate with NIA extramural divisions, NIA Intramural Research Program, and other NIH Institutes.

Develops acquisitions plans and proposed budgets for information systems and applications.

Supervise a team of approximately 100+ federal and contract IT staff, coordinating their work in connection with technical design and support efforts across the NIH and NIH

Evaluate and develop training plans for NIA supported software, applications, IT security, and related topics based on user needs.

The Ideal candidate will possess:

A bachelor's degree or graduate degree related to computer science, information technology (IT), information science, information systems management.

Experience with an array of IT systems, applications development, and a proactive approach to staying ahead in the ever-evolving landscape of IT innovations.

Overseen documentation, configuration management, and managed budgets for impactful large-scale IT projects.

Experienced project manager who has delivered exceptional results on high-profile and complex projects.

Communication skills (Written- Drafting briefing materials, translating technical terms into lay language; Verbal- Delivering presentations, briefing senior leadership for external engagements).

Exceptional leadership skills, including strategic goal development, human resources management, and budgetary planning.

Experience with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
