Description:

1. Purpose of the job

We are seeking for a professional to manage investments, and portfolio management of its investee companies. Over the past 3 years the company has transformed from a corporate, to investment, holding company. Our portfolio of assets comprises minority interests in a microfinance bank, general insurance company, refinance boutique, and health management organization. We are strengthening our core executive team to further enhance our asset management competence and grow the company.

2. Main Duties:

a) Review of quarterly financial reports of investee companies to ensure that they are achieving their objectives, such as generating income and growing assets.

b) Management of third-party funds under management.

c) Reconciliation of fund portfolios.

d) Preparation of quarterly investment reports.

e) Preparation of budgets for the company.

f) Management of the company’s liquidity position.

g) Reviewing potential investee companies for investment.

h) Overseeing internal audit, and back-up accounts administration.

3. Knowledge and experience:

a) Essential:

Þ At least 5 years working experience.

Þ Ability to work collaboratively/flexibly as part of a team to achieve measurable results.

Þ Strong organisation skills to manage multiple projects to competing deadline.

Þ Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Þ Strong operational knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

b) Desirable

Þ Experience of working in finance (fund management, investment banking, or corporate financial); consultancy or another commercial organisation.

Þ Knowledge or experience of equity financing for early stage/high growth companies.

Þ Knowledge and experience of performing due diligence projects.

Þ Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external).

Þ Understanding of financial reporting and accounts.

Requirements

1. Qualifications

Degree in Analytical discipline (e.g. Economics, Accounting, law, Engineering or Science).

Professional qualification e.g. CFA, ICAN.

2. Key Competences / behaviours:

a) Articulates clear objectives and qualitative/quantitative measures of success, aligned to the company’s objectives.

b) Re-calibrates and reallocates workload as priorities change.

c) Takes timely decisions, even with partial information or when there is disagreement.

e) Alternative investments (private equity, real estate and / or hedge funds) experience)
