Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a talented professional for the role of Manager – Habitability and Resilient Housing for its Latin America & the Caribbean region. Reporting to the Assoc. Director, SMEs, Manager – Habitability & Resilient Housing is responsible for leading the design, planning, implementation, overall coordination, and monitoring Habitability and Resilient Housing. Interventions, within LAC. The purpose of the position is to support the improvement of access to sustainable Habitability and Resilient Housing services connected to climate change challenges. In carrying out the work, this Habitability and Resilient Housing professional interacts with other regional/national/headquarters staff, partner organizations and contracted subject matter experts (SMEs).

This position will be remotely-based within a country in the Latin America & Caribbean region where Habitat has an entity and the employee can already legally work.

This position seeks to contribute to reaching greater impact in LAC, addressing the root causes related to inequality to housing access to low-income families, as well as the drivers increasing the housing/habitability services deficits such as climate change, urbanization, and migration. This position must support the strengthening of the local oriented roles identified in the regional strategic framework: direct implementation, catalyst, and integrator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead Habitability and Resilient Housing business development in LAC, according to sector and country standards

Support National Offices to design and structure proposals, reports, concept notes and other documents to be submitted to donors.

Conduct and supervise technical assessments and data analysis related to Habitability and Resilient Housing considering climate change challenges.

Supervises and provides technical support/orientation in the design, implementation and monitoring/evaluating engineering activities developed by NOs and partners when needed.

Designs/develops innovative solutions to accelerate housing access, ensuring program’s cost effectiveness and sustainability.

Develops quality technical documentation.

Develop with the support of the MEAL team project Key Performance Indicators on Habitability and Resilient Housing projects.

Supports the resource development team in mobilizing resources towards Habitability and Resilient Housing key activities/projects/programs.

Represents HFHI in local/regional/global in internal/external meetings and events related to Habitability and Resilient Housing.

Plan and organize capacity building programs/projects/initiatives for Habitability and Resilient Housing.Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in civil/construction engineering. Master’s Degree related to Environment, Climate Change or similar. Candidates must be certified in Resilient Housing and/or Climate Change.

Experience in planning and developing social housing projects in urban, peri-urban, and rural areas with a clear understanding of Habitability and Resilient Housing with a climate change nexus.

8+ years’ experience in Habitability and Resilient Housing projects considering climate change challenges (procedures, design, planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, evaluation, and monitoring).

Strong project management background with the ability to implement projects within a budget and timeframe.

Strong technical grant proposals and reports writing in Spanish and English. French is an added value.

Understands and develops key activities related to disasters (e.g. reconstruction projects).

Experience in negotiating with multiple donors, understanding their interests, requirements and how to meet them.

Analyzes and provides solutions to complex problems and contexts.

Adult training skills, as well as capacity building, facilitation, and presentation skills.

Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written). Ability to speak and write French is an added advantage.

Resourceful and creative with ability to think strategically to place Habitability and Resilient Housing in connection to climate change and migration challenges beyond “business as usual”.

A high level of diplomacy and networking skills; cross-cultural sensitivity.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Spanish and English are a must).

Excellent organizational skills including accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.

Ability to work under minimal or no supervision, while also able to be a team player and ready to work in a team building environment.

Computer literate and able to use AutoCAD, ArcGIS or similar.

Ability to travel up to 40%, mostly within LAC.Active support of HFHI Values:
