To design the assigned engine component meeting the necessary strength and durability requirements, packaging, assembly, manufacturing & serviceability requirement while respecting overall project timelines
Preparation of design reports, including decision matrix explaining the basis of selection of final design out of different options considered
Preparation of release documentation in standard Daimler release systems
Be a team player, complimenting other team members on design work as and when required
Support the project lead with the preparation of project tracker, documentation, communication sheet, MOM and project reports
Present the status of the design work to leadership team and respective counterparts
Experience of designing core and peripheral components for medium and heavy duty diesel engine for commercial applications
Understanding the functions of IC engine components
Stiffness and durability requirements of structural components (core & peripheral engine components)
Design of casting, sheet metal and forged components based on functional, strength, manufacturability, assembly and serviceability requirements
Experience in design of engine components, assembly & packaging of engine in vehicle environment using Siemens NX
Good communication and presentation skills
Good skills with respect to Abstract reasoning, logical reasoning and spatial reasoning
Desired Key Skills:
Understanding the product development life cycle and quality gates
Verification of design by stiffness assessment through calculations and/or preliminary CAE analysis
Understanding the failure modes of components and propose countermeasure design solutions (Knowledge of DFMEA)
Experience using PLM software
