SAIS Inspector

We are currently recruiting for a SAIS Inspector, (Level 4) to inspect and test new/modernised lifts and escalators/moving walks in accordance with the Schindler Acceptance and Inspection Standard (SAIS), in order to demonstrate they are safe to be put into service, compliant with relevant codes and are in accordance with Schindler's quality standards. The successful candidate will join the the Technical Department is responsible for all matters technical that effect the field within the Schindler Ltd. UKC organisation, including SAIS inspections on lifts & escalators (NI/MOD), CPSI5 inspections (EI), Qualison inspections (EI), Technical Codes & Standards, assisting with Technical Training and providing Technical Support in order to solve technical problems in the field (NI/MOD & EI).

Duties & Responsibilities:

Inspect the lift or escalator/moving walk according to SAIS requirements

Perform defined tests, measure, check and compare with acceptance criteria

Record and document results

Re-inspect in case of non-conformitiesCcritical items require re-inspection by the SAIS inspector once rectified

Confirm if the Declaration of Conformity can be issued

complies with relevant codes & standards

Coach the installation teams (internal, external) during inspection process and educate Fitters on the job

Prepare experienced fitters for inspection tasks

Implement, communicate and demonstrate changes in SAIS

Keep knowledge up to date with products and training related processes

Enforce Schindler norms (e.g. SAIS)

Codes and standards (e.g. EN 81-20, EN 115-1)

Demonstrates Schindler's values on site

Ensure safety for passengers, employees and customer's infrastructure

Clearly communicate poor/unacceptable quality and explain issues to site team

To ensure all tasks are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with agreed methods & procedures.

To work alone or as part of a group, to resolve any technical issues as requested by the FQE Business Partner.

To provide technical support to NI/MOD or EI as requested by the FQE Business Partner. Also ensuring the findings are accurately recorded and reported to the relevant Managers in an agreed timescale.

To assist with Retrofit actions as requested by the FQE Business Partner. Also ensuring all completed actions are accurately recorded and reported to the relevant Manager within an agreed timescale.

To ensure, if certified to perform CPSI5 inspections, all existing installations are periodically inspected in accordance with Group requirements. Also ensuring all inspection are accurately recorded and reported to the relevant Manager within an agreed timescale

Candidate Requirements:

Have sufficient experience within the lift and escalator industry as a qualified installation or maintenance engineer (NVQ3 or similar)

Commodity lifts

Escalators/Moving Walks

Custom lifts (NI/MOD)

Possess extensive product knowledge, sufficient electrical and mechanical skills to perform the required tasks and be familiar with the use of field tools

Practical and theoretical knowledge of safety components, safety relevant subsystems, system related safety issues/hazards, relevant codes and standards, and in accessing technical or code related documentation

Assessed, trained and certified as a SAIS inspector in accordance with Group procedures

NVQ4 qualified in testing lifts or escalators (both new and existing equipment modules) or be working towards this qualification
