The Head of Financial Services Partnerships has accountability for ensuring the ongoing success of commercial partnerships with a portfolio of co-brand partners across major banking partners in Australia and internationally as well as emerging specialist and FinTech partners. Managing a complex set of partnerships, this role drives significant external revenue, and is a major contributor to the overall financial success of Qantas Loyalty.

This position is a key contributor to formulation of the overall Financial Services strategy and is accountable for:

developing and implementing the strategy for co-brand Financial Services partnerships;

renegotiation of key contracts;

identifying opportunities to improve existing commercial relationships to increase revenues;

identification, negotiation, contracting and onboarding of new financial services partnerships;

solving significant and complex commercial issues; and

interpreting and advising on current and emerging trends in the financial services industry.

This role is also responsible for people leadership, mentoring and developing a squad of direct and indirect reports and sits on the Financial Services Tribe leadership team.

What you’ll bring to the role:

10-15 years in leadership roles in publicly listed companies with experience in Financial Services

Tertiary qualifications in business or commerce (MBA highly regarded)

Knowledge of the Financial Services sector (unsecured lending preferable)

Proven ability to identify and execute on commercial strategies

Significant experience in building senior relationships in large, complex organisations including the ability to build and develop new partnership opportunities and drive through the sales process from identification and evaluation to pitching and contract negotiation and closure.

P&L management experience, including ability to manage and deliver on financial targets in a growth environment.

Significant business development, negotiation and contracting experience with in-depth knowledge of all components of deal making, partnership development and onboarding.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively liaise with Qantas management, and senior executives of external partners.

Experience in dealing with legal, tax, insurance operations, financial management and approval processes in a corporate environment, and resolving issues in these areas involving external partner organisations.

Demonstrated understanding of applicable regulatory obligations, especially in a financial services sector.

Thorough understanding of customer loyalty fundamentals, core drivers of loyalty value creation and partnership execution within a loyalty programme context.

Ability to lead or oversee numerous projects simultaneously, managing competing priorities and an ability to deliver to tight deadlines.

Thorough understanding of Agile ways of working and methodologies and/or experience of working in an Agile organisation.
