Title: Senior Patient Account Specialist

Terms: Contract-to-hire (3-6 months on contract, then FTE)

Location: Houston, TX (onsite M-F)

Industry: Healthcare

Pay: $20 per hour

Overview: We are seeking a Senior Patient Account Specialist with a minimum of three years of experience in physician billing. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and prompt billing and collection of fees for physician services. This role demands a high level of precision and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the entire cycle of physician billing, from initial claim submission to the resolution of payer rejections, follow-up on denials, secondary appeals, and processing of refunds.

Apply extensive knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 coding principles across various specialties within a physician practice.

Navigate government and commercial payer guidelines and understand reimbursement methodologies to ensure maximum revenue collection.

Utilize advanced understanding of medical terminology to enhance billing accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements:

A high school diploma or its equivalent; further college coursework is an advantage.

Proficient in using office equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, fax machines, and 10-key calculators.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to efficiently multitask.

Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

A minimum of three years of experience in physician billing is essential.

Candidate must have:

Extensive knowledge and experience with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 coding in a multi-specialty physician practice setting.

A comprehensive understanding of the guidelines set by both government and commercial payers, along with knowledge of reimbursement processes.

Proficiency in managing all facets of the physician billing cycle, including dealing with initial claim submissions, payer rejections, denials, appeals, and refund processing.

Advanced knowledge of medical terminology.
