Job Description

Hydraulics International, Inc (HII) is seeking junior to senior level Mechanical Engineers to provide engineering and technical support for full product life cycle leading all aspects of contract performance for our customers, from conception to completion, and serves as the point of contact for the customer through all phases. You’ll need to be a highly self-motivated individual that thrives on helping customers and demonstrated technical background to be hands on and leading the mechanical design and assembly and testing process, ensuring quality control.

Primary Responsibilities

• Leverage internal systems to access data analysis and insights to make data driven business decisions.

• Design new products and components: plastic injection molded parts, die castings, investment castings, stampings, machines components, etc. from conception to completion.

• Comprehensive technical skills to drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing.

• Performs large or complex portions of projects where responsibility includes definition, completion, technical quality, customer support, and securing consistency across assigned areas.

• Provides technical leadership, trains, mentors, and takes initiative to assist junior staff and others.

• Develops engineering/product concepts that are innovative, high-quality, cost appropriate, and satisfy all stakeholder’s (customer, manufacturing, materials) needs and requirements throughout the full product development life cycle.

• Lead efforts to create or update layout drawings, fabrication drawings, and engineering change orders.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to ensure existing products are adequately designed for manufacturing.

• Examine cost, material, manufacturing process analysis, identification and evaluation of alternatives, compliance, and tooling development.

• Design visualization efforts with 3D models using Solidworks and ASME Y14.5 standard and essential component and assembly details to explore multiple design options.

Qualifications, Experience, and Education

• Entry level engineers must have a minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, mechatronics, mathematics, or similar field.

• Staff engineering roles must have a minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, mechatronics, mathematics, or similar field AND 2+ years relative experience.

• Senior engineering roles must have an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, mechatronics, mathematics, or similar field AND 6+ years relative experience.

Staff and Senior Engineers must have demonstrated knowledge and experience with the following:

• Career experience as an engineering project leader and hands-on mechanical design engineer of hydraulic systems.

• Tooling and/or equipment design exp

• Automotive, Aerospace, or heavy equipment industry experience preferred.

• FEA analysis exp

• Machine shop and fabrication exp

• ASME Y14.5 GD&T Exp

• DOD specifications

• Hydraulics

• SolidWorks

Compensation for these roles ranges from $64,480 to $130,000 based upon relative experience, education, and knowledge.
