SUMMARY

Our Production Cook Supervisor will manage Cook Room operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures to ensure scheduled production levels are met for each shift at the highest quality output. Ensure smooth Cook Room operations during shifts to minimize downtime and waste.

Supervisors will ensure that manufacture of products is carried out in accordance with internal and external standards and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP and SQF requirements along with Work Safe BC standards.

Shift Time: 3pm to 11:30pm

Salary: 60K - 70K/annually

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise Cook Room operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures to meet the highest quality production outputs. Coordinate startups, shutdowns and changeovers when necessary.

Responsible for shift schedule approvals to include: team member training, team member vacation approval, overtime assignments, back-up for absent team members, and shift rotations.

Champion a safety-first work environment and ensure clearly defined Company policies and procedures are strictly followed.

Responsible to meet Cook Room production goals.

Attend weekly scheduling meetings and work with the scheduling department regarding changes based on customer requests, ingredient issues or machine downtime.

Work closely with Packaging Supervisors, Warehouse and Sanitation Supervisor in collaboration to achieve smooth operations between all functional areas in production.

Share best practices for meeting production targets and team management to ensure consistency of output and fair treatment of all team members.

Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during Cook Room shifts to produce products within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.

Ensure all team members operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Standards.

Assist and coordinate Cook Room trials with R&D and QA.

Promote a positive working culture that supports the Company’s philosophy of inclusion and is based on open and honest dialogue and involvement of all team members that values their input and engagement in improving performance. Communicate regularly with Shift Supervisors and Plant Manager.

Complete new Hire Request form and get approval before providing to HR for hiring. Discuss with the Plant and Production Manager and HR regarding appropriate staffing levels.

Ensure all team members are properly trained in all their tasks and receive timely feedback on an ongoing basis. Bring training concerns and performance issues to the attention of the Production Manager and HR.

Ensure all team members speak English and follow Respectful Workplace practices.

Conduct performance management discussions with Lead-Hands and team members as required.

Schedule and conduct Crew Talk meetings.

Ensure clean and safe work spaces in the Cook Room and Packaging areas.

Approve team members hours worked using company system software. Ensure successful completion of all Cook Room paper work.

Carry out any relevant duties as directed by the Plant or Production Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

At least three (3) years’ experience in a food manufacturing setting including two (2) year in a supervisory role

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement HACCP, SQF, SOPs, SSOP’s, GMPs, and preventative maintenance programs applicable to food production and food safety principles

Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

RELATED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Relevant experience in manufacturing processes, preferably in the food industry

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

Strong leadership and motivational skills

Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities

Ability to prioritize under the pressure of tight deadlines

Ability to persuade and positively influence at all levels of the organization

Able to deal tactfully and efficiently with all enquiries

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Strong English written and oral communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as a part of a team

Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
