Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area is searching for an experienced Power Electronic Engineer. With a 60+ year foundation, The Marvin Group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
SCOPE
As part of the R&D team, the Power Electronics Engineer will development of products, such as motor drives, switch mode power supplies, power factor correction units, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design high-power motor controllers, power regulators, high efficiency AC-DC power converters, DC-DC converters, synchronous rectifiers and battery management solutions.
Design hardware for motor control systems utilizing embedded processors, DSPs, memory devices, OPAMPs, A/D and D/A converters, as well as other peripheral devices such as RS232, RS485, CAN bus, ModBus, USB interfaces, Ethernet and I2C interfaces as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Support new product introduction to manufacturing and through product lifecycle.
Design PCBs for motor control hardware utilizing techniques to prevent EMC and EMI.
Designing and selecting hardware for high temperature environments.
Capture designs utilizing DxDesigner, Allegro for design and schematic capture
Design PCB layout, to control of heat and transients.
Robust testing / validation / documentation methodology for design verification.
Supervise and support junior engineers.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Proven working experience in power electronics engineering. Minimum 7 years of experience
Advanced knowledge of electric drives and electrical circuits (Altium Preferred)
Familiarity with various networking protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, Controller Area Network (CAN), Bluetooth.
Experience with integration of military systems/standards is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work well within a team.
Must be able to speak/read/write English.
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
