About the positions:

We currently have a full-time vacancy at our Northside manufacturing plant for a Welder. The primary objective of the Welder is to fabricate and repair metal products by welding metals as directed by the Team Leader in the most efficient way and in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures.

Key Functions and Accountabilities:

Study drawings or specifications to determine appropriate welding processes and other job requirements

Clean and prepare metal surfaces for welding using grinders and other hand tools

Preheat thick materials to required temperatures

Fit attachments, connect hoses to gas tanks, or wires to power sources of equipment used in welding operations

Adjust controls to regulate gas pressure, voltage or amperage

Open valves or switches and light torches, strike arcs or start machines

Guide torches or electrodes along lines of weld manually or by operating machine controls

Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiseling or grinding

Cut metal shapes using flame and thermal cutting torches

May set up welding machines for other operators

About the person required:

Our ideal applicant will:

Experience operating machinery & the ability to interpret basic drawings

Previous experience in welding / plate rolling / brake press.

At least 2 years experience in MIG and TIG welding on Stainless Steel is essential.

Use measuring devices accurately

Hold a current forklift license desirable

Pay attention to detail and be quality conscious and

Capable of working alone and unsupervised

The attainment of, or working towards, formal Fabrication qualifications is highly regarded
