Job Summary / Objective

Responsible for fitting and welding of mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel parts using a MIG process. Also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as assigned by supervisor. Perform visual and measurement inspections for in-process and finish production parts. Welder will be expected to maintain quality and safety standard, keep accurate records, and maintain equipment and supplies.

Essential Job Functions and Duties

Inspect production parts by conducting visual and measurement tests.

Discuss inspection results with the production team and communicate required adjustments or re-work to supervisor.

Ability to follow instructions as delivered by supervisor and scheduler, work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, and locations of surfaces.

Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Specification

Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements.

MIG weld mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings.

Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.

Follow, create and help maintain Welding Procedure Specifications.

Set up welding cells for serial production runs.

Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.

Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.

Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Follow all company safety rules, policies and quality standards.

Maintains equipment by completing daily and weekly preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs.

Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Required Education and Experience

Minimum 5 years Welding Experience.

Experience with mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel required.

Experience with MIG welding.

Read and interpret welding symbols.

Basic math, reading and writing skills.

Mechanical Assembly understanding.

Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions.

Understanding of conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, inventory control, judgment and attention to detail.

Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goal.

Requires Safe Work Habits.

Maintain good attendance.

Preferred Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience with MIG and TIG welding.

MIG and TIG certifications.

Work Authorizations / Security Clearance / Additional Eligibility Requirements

Working Conditions / Work Schedule / Travel

Normal work hours (4 - 10 hour days – Days may vary Mon – Fri).

1st Shift – 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Must be flexible to work overtime as required.

Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.

Remain standing on feet for long periods of time.

Frequent carrying, grasping, reaching, pulling, pulling, stooping for parts and supplies.
