DCT Buyer/Planner Job Description

The DCT Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the timely, accurate and cost effective buying and inventory monitoring of DCT production, packaging and kitting supplies. Additional responsibilities may include raw material buying, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Order raw materials, packaging, production supplies and services, as needed, for multiple sites, including offsite contract manufacturers. This includes calculations of the optimum order quantity and frequency to meet the needs of production at the minimum cost and risk.

Support Supply Chain Director with supplier relations, bidding, sourcing and other purchasing activities

Organize, execute and evaluate the results of a thorough physical count of the inventory quarterly.

Complete weekly cycle counts of individual supplies, raw materials and finished goods.

Complete transactions in the CMS inventory management system.

Review current inventory for any signs of inaccuracy. Investigate and implement processes to avoid inventory inaccuracies and unnecessary losses.

Manage the inventory and disposition of inactive and/or obsolete raw materials and products.

Collect and report on other purchasing or inventory data as assigned.

Skills and Specifications

Good data skills and detail-oriented. Computer proficiency

Must be able to work in a manufacturing team environment and meet deadlines

Minimum 2 years college degree in a field related to business, accounting, technical, etc.,

Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.

Demonstrated ability to study data and apply sound reasoning to draw conclusions and make improvements.

Valid driver’s license. Fork Truck license or ability to pass fork truck test is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of the DCT ERP systems is desired, but not required.

Time spent on the job will be 20% in the warehouse and 80% in the office. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Some travel required weekly, to contract manufacturers.

Measures of Success (DCT, contractors and DMG)

Raw material or supplies quality problems addressed promptly and effectively.

Obsolete, off-spec raw material, supplies and finished goods inventory minimized and monitored.

Timely and accurate completion of all inventory transactions (i.e. an accurate perpetual inventory)

Raw material losses (inventory write-downs) reduced.

No orders shipped late due to lack of materials (excluding emergency orders)Company Description
