Davies is hiring a lawyer with general corporate, M&A and securities transactional experience to join our Knowledge Management (KM) team in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of client-facing practice experience, ideally with a top-tier transactional law firm.
Reporting to the Partner, Knowledge Management and Pricing, the successful candidate will be actively involved in the implementation of the firm’s strategic objectives in the area of Knowledge Management, working with our legal professionals and other stakeholders to leverage and manage the firm’s intellectual capital. As KM Counsel, you will have the opportunity to substantively build and hone your legal knowledge and analytical and drafting skills in the context of precedent development and current awareness engagement. In addition to contributing to thought leadership, you will benefit from collaborating with all practice groups to mine their intellectual capital and convert existing knowledge into state-of-the-art precedents and other resources, focusing on excellence in quality, consistency and efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the development of new precedents and update the firm’s existing precedents, including participation in drafting and annotating model documents
Work closely with lawyers to identify and gather new knowledge resources, and maintain our existing collections of practice resources and research materials
Work with the firm’s practice groups to explore and implement solutions to meet their specific KM needs
Respond to requests for KM resources using the firm’s KM collections and enterprise search tool
Participate in the development of firm knowledge pertaining to new laws and legal developments, including authoring client-facing publications
Leverage precedent and current awareness work to advise lawyers on legal issues
Prepare and deliver legal training to the firm’s lawyers and law students related to knowledge products and solutions
Promote awareness and active usage of the firm's knowledge resources
Skills & Experience Required
A law degree with 2-5 years of client facing practice experience, ideally with a top-tier transactional law firm
Strong academic credentials and ability to think strategically, demonstrating well-honed analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and concisely
A high level of comfort with law firm technology and a willingness to develop new technology proficiencies
Strong client service skills and a self-starter who is highly organized, motivated and detail-oriented; able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a larger team
