Role Overview:

Our Toronto office is currently recruiting for a 4-month contract Accounts Payable Specialist in our Accounting Department, reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor. This role requires a candidate who has the experience, professional maturity, and analytical skills to oversee and support various processes related to Accounts Payable, including coding and reviewing vouchers and invoices; account reconciliations; tracking expenses; preparing posting entries and reports using Excel. Meeting deadlines in this role is crucial therefore, we are looking for somebody who is highly responsible and dependable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Review and approve invoices entered by users for data accuracy in Chrome River

Review and approve expense reports and corporate visa charges submitted by firm members in Chrome River

Review and perform data cleanup of CSV (and other formats) account transactions prior to uploading to ERP system

Maintain excel templates for uploading of high-volume transactions

Respond to internal & external inquiries, statement reconciliation and resolving outstanding balances on vendor accounts.

Work closely with firm members and lawyers to ensure all disbursement/expenses are taken up in a timely manner

Ensuring the adherence to Firm policies and business rules.

Supporting and participating in various financial system implementations and related projects.

Recommending process improvements to gain efficiencies and to reduce errors.

Completing other A/P duties as assigned by Supervisor or Senior Management.

The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:

Diploma or post secondary education in Accounting

3 to 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience.

Preference to candidates working in law firms, 3E and Chrome River experience.

Intermediate to Advanced skills in MS Excel with the ability to easily learn new software and applications.

Flexible and comfortable to adjust to new tasks in a rapidly changing and growing environment.

Ability to take initiative to learn with a curious mindset

Highly organized, must be able to manage multiple priorities and workflow in a fast-pace environment with high level of accuracy, attention to details and meeting deadlines

Exhibits good verbal and written communication skills and professional judgment and can independently follow through to resolve issues that may arise.
