Job Summary:
The Lead Hand will be the “Front Line” representative of management within the shop and will be reporting to the project managers of the Process Panel Shop.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervision and training of employees
• Weekly collection and submission of shop timesheets and expenses.
• Ordering of Inventory as required
• Provide a single point of contact for all production-related issues.
• Arrange staff resources within the shop to ensure committed deliveries are met. o Working with project managers to ensure that any changes to committed
• deliveries are negotiated and communicated to the customer.
• Coordination with project managers and/or customers to resolve technical issues.
• Coordination of shipping/receiving personnel to ensure material is packed or received properly. Any supplier mistakes will be resolved directly. Any issues
• that can’t be resolved directly will be provided to the appropriate Project Manager
• for resolution.
• Completion of Weekly Quality and Workmanship and Toolbox Talks
• Ensure that shop staff are adhering to all quality and safety standards.
• Monitor employee attendance and breaks and track holiday schedules. Provide notice to the division manager of any attendance issues.
• Provide feedback to the division manager when work or labour shortages occur.
• Assist in the interview of new shop staff as required.
• Ensure that all job CSA Documentation (Red Files) are complete and up to date.
• Ensure that the shop is clean, and items are put away at the end of each shift.
• Utilize shop Gantt chart to ensure priorities are met.
• When not working on Lead Hand duties perform Wire person A or Testing duties
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Significant experience in a high-quality control panel manufacturing facility or similar environment.
• Exceptional understanding of control panel construction
• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Willingness to attend company sponsored supervisor and safety training.
• Post secondary education preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions with minimal assistance required.
• Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excell
• A strong commitment to health and safety
• Takes pride in producing high quality work with very little guidance.
• Enjoys teaching and assisting others.
• Willingness to maintain valid First Aid.
