Overview
This position is based in San Diego, CA. Insmed is seeking a Senior Research Associate with significant experience with droplet digital PCR (ddPCR). This scientist will be responsible for design and development of ddPCR assays, quantitating DNA and mRNA both in vitro and from in vivo samples. Additionally, the scientist will document his/her methods and studies, and participate in the technical transfer of assays to third party contractors. Depending on experience, the scientist will expand molecular and product specific assay development working with the analytical development team. Beyond ddPCR expertise, general cellular and molecular biology proficiency is advantageous to the company. Skills such as western blot, cloning, general mammalian cell culture and transfection will be considered advantageous. This is a non-supervisory position This role may oversee vendors and/or contractors
Responsibilities
Additional representative responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
Mastery and execution of ddPCR assays developed in partnership with supervisor
Following protocols and SOPs related to ddPCR lab work with in vitro and in vivo samples
Extraction of DNA and RNA from samples for analysis
Documentation of results in appropriate formats provided by supervisor Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree in biology, chemistry, or related field. Graduate degree holders are encouraged to apply.
Significant and demonstrated experience in operation of BioRad ddPCR equipment (QX200), as well as assay development and optimization, assay interpretation.
Excellent communication skills with ability to interact professionally with colleagues and present research results in written reports and team presentations.
Willingness to learn new techniques and train other laboratory staff in technical matters.
Entrepreneurial spirit, with strong willingness to take on new challenges required to bring novel medicines to the clinic.
Strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety guidelines.

Salary Range
Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees. The base salary range for this job is from $76,000.00 to $102,667.00 per year
