Aircraft A&P Maintenance Technicians

Byerly Aviation is now accepting applications for full time General Aviation A&P Maintenance Technicians with 3 to 5 years experience in the Central Illinois area.

Candidates must have a strong background and work history performing aircraft maintenance repairs on general aviation piston singles, twins, turboprops and light jets.

Aircraft Maintenance Technicians are responsible to the Director of Maintenance and Chief Inspector for the safe and efficient daily inspection, maintenance, preventative maintenance and alterations of aircraft at Byerly Aviation and anywhere else designated by the Director of Maintenance and the assurance that all activities are in compliance with appropriate FAA rules and regulations and policies of Byerly Aviation

More specifically, his/her responsibilities include:

Inspects, repairs, and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness by performing the following duties.

Inspect, service, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace, overhauls aircraft components & parts, hydraulic systems & landing gear, electrical systems, structures & sheet metal, flight controls & rigging, pneumatic systems, engines, propellers, etc.

Reads and interprets manufacturer's maintenance manuals, illustrated parts manual, wiring manuals, structures manuals, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and other manufacture's advisory letters to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

Examines engines and propeller systems for normal operation and make adjustments as required.

Should be able to operate an engine to locate source of malfunction.

Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components such as alternators, magnetos, propellers, ignition systems, fuel systems, etc

Inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects.

Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.

Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including changing oil, oil filter, cleaning screens, lubricating moving parts, and checking brakes.

Must account for all parts, materials, and documentation.

Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

Comply with Byerly Aviation, Airport, FAA, TSA and other regulatory rules pertaining to the FBO operations pertaining to aircraft maintenance.

Must be able to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, blue prints, production illustrations and other specifications to determine the identity, location and relationship of aircraft parts.

Demonstrates skill and capability in aircraft maintenance with a dedication to assisting the customer with their needs.

Qualifications for Aircraft Technician

High School diploma or equivalent required

A/P License with 3 years of experience

Valid Driver's License

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and three years related experience and/or training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
