Manager Perinatal Services
MAIN FUNCTION:
The Clinical Manager, under the direction of the department director, is accountable for creating and maintaining a process which cultivates the participation of the team in the assessment, planning and implementation of professional practice. They are accountable to ensure safe, efficient, cost effective, and therapeutically effective, age specific patient care is delivered on a 24 hour basis. The Clinical Manager is a role model for professional behavior, clinical skills and customer service and holds staff accountable for the same. In conjunction with the department manager, CNS and/ or educator, the Clinical Manager assesses educational needs of all new employees and staff members in order to plan and implement appropriate educational programs. Direct patient care is required within the Clinical Manager's scope of practice. Decisions are made independently and/or in collaboration with the department director as appropriate and within the Department of Nursing guidelines and established practices. The Clinical Manager participates in the fiscal management of the unit as requested, and acts as Unit Director in the absence of the director. Acts in compliance with hospital, Nursing Department policies/procedures and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Ohio. Follows WCH Nursing Philosophy and practice model which are derived from the Synergy model and appropriate Service Standards as outlined in Employee Handbook.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Department Director
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed in Ohio
Maintain a current AHA (American Heart Association) Healthcare Provider BLS card while in this position.
3 years relevant hospital experience
Demonstrates strong leadership skills / abilities
Strong teaching and mentoring skills
Demonstrates strong customer service skills
Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates support of unit and hospital leadership
Accepts change with a positive helpful attitude
Demonstrates initiative and problem solving skills

BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program with an expected completion date within two years
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
Clinical certification
Experience as Unit Charge Nurse
Basic computer skills such as Word, Excel, Power Point
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in this position may be exposed to blood, body fluids and/or airborne pathogens and are required to wear barriers
Employees in this position must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, turn, crouch, and bend as necessary to complete nursing care tasks
Certifications as appropriate and required by the Department such as ACLS, NRP, PALS must be obtained within 1 year and maintained while in this position
DUTIES:
Maintain and monitor the required NRP education for all staff
Women’s Pavilion must be familiar with Electronic Fetal Monitoring documentation system and review charting on a regular basis to insure completeness.
Explores and researches new products and new/recently revised evidence-based patient care practices to implement.
Facilitates availability of health information and patient education resources for staff to use in patient/family teaching
Must be in compliance with Ohio Department of Health to insure Licensure on an annual basis
FT Exempt. 40 hours a week. Varies, typically 8am-4pm M-F
