Primary Purpose:

The incumbent is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, execution, development and organisational structure of the sourcing team that supports all businesses. This key leader will closely partner with executive and functional leadership to ensure alignment and execution of their strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

Lead and drive all aspects of the sourcing function, including developing and sourcing team, defining, and articulating strategy and vision, negotiating, measuring, and maintaining relationships with vendors, and optimizing total costs, quality, delivery, and safety

Foster continuous improvement, think big innovative culture through the organization and supply base

Own the supplier relationship development and management for business

Create sourcing strategies that reduce direct material cost and optimize quality, service, and working capital to achieve annual service, cost, quality capital and growth objectives

Drive strategy that supports the needs of the operations and business

Establish leadership, teams, metrics, and strategies for indirect spend including Facilities, Office Supplies, Sales/Brand, Merchandizing, Capital

Build out technology and solutions to track metrics and data real time to drive faster decision making and execution

Develop supplier’s opportunities to deliver on aggressive new product goals

Define and calculate vendor performance metrics. Meet with vendors periodically to review performance based on quantitative metrics and develop strategy for the same

Work closely with teams to understand product requirements and develop appropriate strategies and tactics

Identify suitable suppliers for the school and school related services product platforms, acquire quote packages, and negotiate best total costs while ensuring achievement of quality, service, and innovation

Develop detailed recommendations for capital, operating and staffing budgets. Provide fiscal of allocated resources, assets, and expenses.

Make necessary decisions to adjust for variations in projected budget income caused by fluctuating volumes and other external factors

Build and develop a high energy, talented sourcing team. Encourage open employee communication and engagement via development, training, and performance management

Modeling and driving the Ampersand Group culture through their team

• Interaction with executive management (CEO, BU heads, HR, IT, etc.)

Competencies Required for the Role:

Working knowledge of contemporary manufacturing techniques (e.g., Lean / Six Sigma) required, proven ability to flow down into supply base with positive impact on KPI’s desirable

Track record of utilizing technology to drive improvements and efficiencies

Proven track record of strategic short and long-term planning as well as financial acumen

Demonstrated strong business judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives

Proven negotiating skills with very strong Project Leadership experience required.

Strong analytical skills required

Demonstrated track record of developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies for sourced

materials

Ability to communicate candidly and encourage candid feedback from cross-functional teams

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Skilled at effectively interfacing with employees at all levels in the organization

Proven ability to provide leadership through influence

Strong citizenship awareness as it relates to culture and customs

Proficient in the use of Microsoft office computer systems and applications

Resilience, stamina, motivation, and flexibility are needed as situations call for decisions, actions, and solutions that at times supersede a standard workday schedule

Qualification:

PG / MBA in Material Management with 15+ years of strong progressive management experience in Sourcing/Supply Chain Operations role with Team Leadership and Strategic Sourcing direction setting experience.
