Job Details Job Family STAFF - Support Non-Exempt (SNE) Grade 07 Salary $16.51 - $19.99 Department Custodial Services Reports To Head Custodian Closing Date June 30, 2024 FLSA Status Non-Exempt First Review Date May 8, 2024 Job Summary Provides janitorial service in the maintenance of building facilities.

Primary responsibility is in the use of proper equipment/tools such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers/cleaners, vacuums, blowers and materials in the performance of janitorial functions.

Performs moderately heavy manual work involving the moving of desks, files, medium size safes and pallets using a forklift when required.

All work is performed under relatively close supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities * Scrubs, mops, waxes and polished floors; washes windows, woodwork; cleans all restrooms and fixtures * Cleans glass areas including inside and outside of windows making use of a boom-lift or scissor lift when required * Assists in making minor repairs to buildings and equipment * Changes trash and garbage cans * Cleans tables and refrigerators in eating areas * Mops floors in "convenience" kitchen and cafeterias * Moves office and school furniture and equipment as directed * Completes college-issued certifications for floor scrubbers, pressure washers/cleaners, boom-lifts, scissor-lifts and other equipment critical to the performance of job duties within six (6) months of hire date * Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements * Completion of two (2) years of High School and one (1) month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience * All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution * Knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in janitorial work and/or in the moving of desks, files, and safes * Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform a variety of janitorial tasks in the care and limited maintenance of buildings and equipment * Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment * Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers * Ability to print and speak simple sentences * Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions * Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables * Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions * Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends * Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff Preferences Certain service members and veterans, and the spouses and family members of such service members and veterans, will receive preference and priority for this job vacancy.

Essential Position * This function/position has been designated as "critical". This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.

Additional Requirements The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
