Job Summary

A Backup admins supporting, architecting, and implementing backup and recovery solutions utilizing Rubrik CDM and Polaris supporting Farmers DR and cyber vault capabilities. Tasks include, but not limited to, configuration of backups, policy setup and management, installation, change and configuration of management tools for both cloud and on-prem environments.

What You'll Do

Implementation of backup solutions and services on Wintel, Linux, Unix, NAS, Database and Cloud Systems via Rubrik.

Work with security and other internal teams to ensure cyber vault capabilities are maximized.

Work with architects and data management to ensure retention is properly set.

Identify and resolve issues with backups and restores.

Setup Backup Policies/SLA’s based on stakeholders’ requirements.

Interact with engineering team for new infrastructure deployments and design changes.

Backup infrastructure upgrades.

Follow, maintain, manage in-house documentation for repeatable processes.

Good understanding of the automation tools and scripting including, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, and API integrations.

Follow Change Management procedures for all production level changes within the enterprise environment, write backout plans, and execute changes.

Review of new solutions and upcoming projects.

Contributes to the development of strategies, policies, and best practices through participation in team meetings and other direct contributions.

Flexibility to work in an On-Call rotation.

Professional certification in Backup/Server OS technologies or others preferred.

Engage in engineering phases of backup software and related storage solutions delivery including planning, design, build, testing, and transition to operational support.

Perform backup software installations, system software maintenance and product upgrades in a 24x7 high availability environment.

Work together with Cloud team, Application team, DBA, and systems teams to ensure production systems are backed up and maintained in optimal configuration.

Work closely with various internal teams and auditors to generate timely audit reports.

Performance management and Capacity management.

Troubleshoot system issues, support requests, engage vendor as required.

What You'll Bring

3-5 years of related experience required.

Minimum of 2 years Backup Administration using one or more of these products (Rubrik, Data Domain, Avamar and or TSM), preferred.

3- 5 years of IT industry hands on experience, preferred.

3-5 years of Systems Administrations hands on experience, preferred.

Ability to manage and lead a team of onshore and offshore resources, preferred.

Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure i.e., AWS, Azure, or GCP, preferred.

Experience in handling hardware issues with third party vendors, preferred.

Experience working in an enterprise IT environment, preferred, preferred.

Planning, deployment, configuration of Backup infrastructure, preferred.

Strong problem-solving skills, preferred.

Team player that has strong written and verbal communication skills, preferred.

Ability to provide technical guidance, documentation, and peer training, preferred.

Familiarity with PII data compliance laws and security best practices, preferred.

Familiarity with ransomeware detection and recovery, preferred.

Familiarity with cyber vault best practices for implementation and processes for recovery, preferred.

Education You'll Need

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

BS/BA Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related degree, preferred.

Storage and Backup Technical Certifications, preferred with VMware, cloud, UNIX, RHSA or AIX a plus.

Physical Actions

This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
