Job Description
We are seeking a Corporate Assistant Counsel in Bethesda, Maryland. This role involves handling business transactions within the financial services industry for a mission-based non-profit organization. The selected individual will be responsible for managing business transactions and corporate contracts, applying knowledge of donor-advised funds and investment compliance regulations, and drafting, structuring, negotiating, and revising agreements.
This person MUST have a minimum of 3 years of experience handling general business transactions and contracts within the financial industry. NO exceptions!
Responsibilities:
• Handle business transactions within the financial services industry.
• Manage corporate contracts within the financial services space.
• Apply knowledge of donor-advised funds and investment compliance regulations.
• Draft, structure, and negotiate agreements.
• Revise agreements with assistance from General Counsel and outside counsel.
• Contribute to the growth and expansion of the company.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the organization.
• Stay updated on current laws and regulations related to the financial services industry.
• Provide legal advice on a variety of corporate matters as needed.
• Must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Must have a license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
• Minimum of three years of experience practicing as an attorney within the corporate law and financial industry
• Demonstrated proficiency in Business & Commercial Law
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate commercial agreements
• Experience in negotiating contracts and terms
• Familiarity with financial services sector is preferred
• Understanding of compliance regulations and standards within the legal field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
