Hiring Agency General Government Cabinet Department of Veterans Affairs Location 1111 Veterans Way Bowling Green, KY 42101 USA Description The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) is charged with ensuring that all Kentucky veterans and their families obtain the benefits and services they have earned.

KDVA administers numerous veterans programs and facilities such as: * Veterans Benefits * Educational Benefits * Homeless Veterans Program * Women Veterans Program * Employment Services Program * Wounded/Disabled Veterans Program * Five State Veterans Cemeteries * Five State Veterans Centers for long-term skilled nursing care KDVA is looking for a mission driven, self-motivated and energetic maintenance manager to work in our Bowling Green Veterans Center located in Warren County, who possesses the skills, knowledge, and desire to perform the following, but not limited to, duties: * Oversee the initial start-up of the physical plant for a new sixty bed skilled nursing facility * Build the department structure and hire a qualified team to maintain daily operations * Develop, implement, and maintain both preventive maintenance systems and life cycle monitoring of equipment * Maintain the property, facility, and equipment for a 24-hour per day facility * Work well with a variety of departments and staff members to serve our veterans.

The ideal candidate will work independently yet be part of a larger team to meet our commitment to serve Kentucky's Veterans.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Seven years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in industrial arts, horticulture, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, mechanical engineering, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for- year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions Incumbents in this job title may be required to use hand tools and lift items in excess of 20 pounds.

Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
