Summary:

This summer internship is meant to provide individuals with hands-on experience in our Communications Department onsite at our Corporate Office in Overland Park, Kansas. Interns will be assigned a corporate mentor and over the course of 8-12 weeks, complete a variety of communication projects for all of our locations across North America. Internships can and have previously led to offers for full-time jobs post-graduation. Projects taken on by our interns make a real difference for our company.

What you’ll be contributing:

Promote and follow all corporate safety guidelines.

Write, edit, and upload text and multimedia content, including feature articles and interviews, to online communication platforms including internal monitors, newsletters, and our intranet.

Write (in various styles and formats) for diverse audiences and platforms including print, web, social media, and video

Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications

Assist in planning, writing, and managing e-newsletters.

Update the organization's website with current events, relevant news, etc.

Update all digital bulletin boards on an ongoing basis

Update and maintain social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting, scheduling and reporting Facebook updates

Provide input for creative strategies and social media campaigns

Manage editorial and event calendars

Interns typically complete a variety of communication tasks with various departments within Ash Grove. .

As part of this internship, you get hands-on experience in the day-to-day internal, external, and community relations at Ash Grove.

Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Communications

Students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester of school after the internship are welcome to apply.

Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and prioritize work with deadlines

Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling communications materials to support Ash Grove

Must be able to communicate effectively and conduct themselves professionally

Must demonstrate strong sense of urgency and proactive approach

Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information

Video editing experience, Photography skills and Social Media content creation experience preferred

Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms including Facebook, Instagram etc.

Understanding of the basic principles of public relations
