POSITION DESCRIPTION
MBA Energy & Industrial, LLC (mba-nrg.com), located in Magnolia, Texas, north of Houston is seeking an experienced Project Estimator for assisting the Estimating Manager and supporting the O&G project team in producing cost estimates, generating drawings, designing facility layouts, generating project schedules, and other tasks related to the job. Will be required to communicate with all project stakeholders: subcontractors, engineers, owner reps, project superintendents, MBA design team, owner operations team, etc.
The Project Estimator's responsibilities include assisting the Estimating Manager with managing oil & gas project estimates and preconstruction activities. Possesses strong written and verbal communications skills and manages time effectively. Shows strong self-motivated tendencies and seeks to anticipate activities and assignments.
Responsibilities include:
Generate project proposals for customers and create cost estimates
Design of facilities for MBA estimating & sales purposes
Solicit quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, & 3rd party engineering firms
Coordinate meetings with owner representatives and provide support to Sales Team on potential projects
Visit potential jobs for with customer for project scoping
Ensure company procedures and standards are maintained
Complete new project approval form and initiate job hand off meetings
Construction scheduling and project schedule building
Ability to read construction drawings
Piping Isometrics and Orthographic drawings
PFD and P&ID Drawings
Electrical Drawings
Civil/Grading Drawings
Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment.
Support Project Management team as needed:
Visit project work sites, clarify scope of work, and prepare cost estimates and proposals.
Procurement and coordination of project materials and equipment
Analyze and acquire subcontractor services and material purchases
Process submittals, schedules, and other project documents
Project cost review, reporting, updating, and accounting.
Technical Skills & Area Expertise (Preferred Experience)
Hydraulic Modeling, Line Loss Calculations
Pumps (Read Pump Curves & size pumps)
Centrifugal, Positive Displacement, ANSI, H-pumps, etc.
Process Piping Knowledge (ASME B31.3)
Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, HDPE, Composite Materials
Welding Procedures & General Welding Knowledge
Pressure Vessels & Tank Sizing
Concrete & Civil Construction
Electrical System Design (Read 1-Lines, size equipment)
VFD’s, Starters, Switchgear Sizing, Classified Area Designation, Etc.
Natural Gas, Produced Water, & Crude Oil System Operation/Design Experience
Compressors, Production Wells, VRU’s, Vessel Separation, Coolers/Exchangers, Heater Treaters, Pumps, LACT Systems
Automation & Instrumentation
Reading Control Narratives, P&ID’s, Process Instrumentation Implementation
Qualifications
General knowledge of construction principles/practices
Experience working on Oil & Gas projects preferred

Oil & Gas project experience (any type): 1-2 years
