Are you ready to put your years of experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, our Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal FPGA Design Engineer to join our growing team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

You will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Systems and Software Solutions (S&SS). S&SS provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-1, KC-135, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering, and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability.

You will support the Lead Engineer in execution of various program activities, to include Test system design and evaluation, design and development of communication, flight controls, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The position will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense or commercial systems.

Responsibilities:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions

Documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems

Development and maintains code and integrate software components into a fully functional software system

Development software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

Design, model, and document the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for metrics and analytics

Effectively generating ideas and supporting building data tools to effectively automate analysis processes and repetitive tasks

Interpret data and analyze results using statistical and analytical techniques to provide ongoing reports and visualizations

Requirement gathering, design, code, and test new software or modify existing software to add new features

Ensures software standards are met

Basic Qualifications:

Must have at least one of the following:

A bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 9 years of engineering experience

A master’s degree in software engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience

A PhD degree in software engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of engineering experience

FPGA design experience with HDL (VHDL/Verilog) and HVL (SystemVerilog), SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA), UVM for FPGAs, CPLDs and/or ASICs

Ability to work in teams and communicate clearly across various levels of engineers

Ability to translate system performance and operational specifications into programmable logic requirements, design, and test specifications

Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

Ability to obtain/maintain access to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

US Citizenship and must have interim secret clearance prior to starting

Once started, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience in HDL (VHDL/Verilog) and HVL (System Verilog), System Verilog Assertions (SVA), UVM for PLDs, FPGAs, and/or ASICs

Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Tools: Mentor Graphics ModelSim/QuestaSim, Xilinx, Altera/Intel

Experience achieving timing closure on FPGA designs

Experience in Microprocessor (PowerPC, Intel–based, SoC) designs

Implementation of Digital Signal or Image Processing algorithms on FPGAs

Experience developing in MATLAB/Simulink

Experience with high level programming languages (Python, C#, C/C++, etc)

Experience with automated testing

A strong team player who can work independently

Active DOD Secret Clearance
